World football governing body, FIFA has shortlisted Liverpool defender, Vigil Van Dijk, Barcelona's Lionel Messi and Juventus poster boy, Cristiano Ronaldo as nominees for the 2019 Best FIFA Football Awards.

Virgil Van Dijk changed the flow once again like last year Luka Modric won UEFA Player of the year and now Dutchman has beaten both Messi and Ronaldo.

The announcement of the final three in each category including best coach and best goalkeeper was made Monday at San Siro.

The winners will be announced on September 23.

Luka Modric, who won the award a year ago after leading Croatia to the World Cup final, did not make the 10-man shortlist.

Those goal-scoring exploits won Messi the European Golden Shoe and, on top of being LaLiga's most prolific player, he also set up 13 goals, a haul only matched by Pablo Sarabia.

After leading his side to victory in Madrid and contributing to one of the most thrilling title races as his side lost out by one point with a record runners-up points tally, Klopp, a losing Champions League finalist the previous year, is one of the final three on the manager's shortlist.

The 26-year-old made light of the distance and tight angle to fire the ball into the top corner for a goal that would be a worthy Puskas victor. She's up against England's Phil Neville and Sarina Wiegman of the Netherlands. The Netherlands lost to the United States in the World Cup final.

For the 2019 FIFA Fan Award, the final three nominees are Silvia Grecco, a Palmeiras supporter, the fans of the Netherland women national team, and Justo Sanchez for Club Atletico Cerro and Rampla Juniors in Uruguay.

Messi's goal was a dinked finished for Barcelona against Real Betis, Quintero's was a long-range free-kick for River Plate against Racing Club and Zsori's was an overhead-kick for Debrecen against Ferencvaros.
