Mike Bloomberg doubles TV ad spending after Iowa caucus chaos

Bloomberg Set To Double Ad Spending, Expand Staff As Dem Primary Heats Up Michael Bloomberg to double spending on TV advertising after Iowa debacle

Pennsylvania does not hold its primary until April 28, but it's a key swing state in the general election where the Bloomberg campaign says it wants to invest resources early.

"Mike Bloomberg is one who can bring people together and make a difference in the world", added Thomas Grant, a Liberian-born entrepreneur who has lived in DE for 27 years.

As of Monday, Bloomberg had 220 full-time staffers in California, which will grow to 300 by the time the state votes, his campaign said.

Other attendees, like Todd Westby, were more upbeat about Bloomberg.

His campaign also released a new advertisement that is scheduled to air on cable stations nationwide during President Donald Trump's State of the Union address Tuesday.

"My fellows Democrats are all good people, but I offer a different choice and a different type of leadership", the candidate said.

"There's nothing magical about California and the first day of the Iowa caucus", Bloomberg said.

Bloomberg reiterated his pledge to support whichever Democrat wins, but when CBS News asked if he was motivated by a personal grudge against Trump, Bloomberg said no, he's said publicly that Trump is "not the right guy for the job" since back in 2016.

Bloomberg, who succeeded Rudy Giuliani as mayor of the nation's largest city shortly after the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2011, is mounting a wholly unconventional campaign for the Democratic presidential nomination.

On Sunday, Bloomberg's campaign denied it had requested a box and taunted the president's "fake hair, his obesity and his spray-on tan". That number is below Democratic rivals Joe Biden, Sanders and Warren, but above the likes of Pete Buttigieg, Andrew Yang and Amy Klobuchar.

Mr. Sheekey said on Tuesday morning that Mr. Bloomberg had set out to run a national campaign and that he would "double down on that bet, as we prepare both a Super Tuesday strategy, but at the same time, to stand up against the president in battleground states in November".

In the aftermath of a chaotic Democratic caucus in Iowa this week, the Democratic field for president remains marked by uncertainty.

The stop was his last on his California tour and came while other candidates were in Iowa for caucuses.

Former Los Angeles mayor Antonio Villaraigosa approved Bloomberg.
