Camas High School Principal Liza Sejkora came under fire for posting the remark to Facebook after National Basketball Association star Kobe Bryant and eight others died in a helicopter accident last month in Calabasas, California, according to newspaper.

Dr. Liza Sejkora, principal of a school in Camas, Wash., north of Portland, wrote in a since-deleted post on her private Facebook page, "Not gonna lie". It, however, appeared Sejkora doubled down on her previous sentiments by following up with another post saying: "You are free to judge me for the post just as I am free to judge the person the post was about".

Bryant, 41, his 13-year-old daughter, Gianna "Gigi" Bryant, alongside seven other passengers tragically lost their lives when the helicopter they were on board crashed near Calabasas in Los Angeles.

The principal was referring in her original post to the 2003 rape allegations against Bryant by a then-19-year-old employee of a Colorado resort. You are free to judge me for the post just as I am free to judge the person the post was about.

"Stuck it out until I realized that I didn't want to go to lunch and be in a large space", one senior student said.

Sejkora apologized Monday, but Snell said the following day that because Sejkora had received threats, she had been placed on administrative leave while the district investigated. "Today, I apologized to my staff, and now I apologize to you", Sejkora wrote. Meanwhile, Camus students staged a nine-minute walkout in protest of their principal's comments, one minute for each victim of the January 26 crash, according to news reports.

The next day, she sent a message to families apologizing for suggesting that Bryant's death was deserved, and apologizing for the disruption her post caused at school. That criminal charge was dropped. "It was inappropriate and tasteless", and called it "a personal, visceral reaction".

Snell said he'd be taking over as school leader during Sejkora's leave. The woman later filed a civil suit against Bryant that was settled out of court.

The superintendent also noted that he would be taking over as principal of the school in the meantime. "I've learned an important lesson and I hope that I can earn your trust back".

Commenting on why so many people were affected by Bryant's death even if they didn't know him, Leslie said, "I really think it's the idea that you rooted for him or you didn't, but that was an emotion evoked either way".
